Hi there, I’m Tess – a Mac & Cheese Lover from the start!
I’m your go-to gal working behind the scenes to make sure things are running smoothly. You can find me at Strive, or developing my fitness and faith business Grit & Grace! I’ve had experience in coaching people of all backgrounds and ages – from 8, to over 80. Certified in 2016, I have been coaching since before I graduated college. I finished with my degree in Kinesiology and a concentration in Fitness Leadership. As a Personal Trainer, I was the head trainer at UNCG, and I have been spotlighted in multiple local news broadcasts as well. I love serving the world by helping people realize and reach their full potential, and I’m most passionate about holistic wellness (mental, physical and spiritual well-being). In my time as a trainer, I have seen first hand how big of an impact exercise can have on someone’s life.
Fitness has always been a big part of who I am – from playing a variety of sports as a child, and continuing to stay fit throughout college – exercise and it’s benefits have helped me reach personal goals for the things I love to do. It’s constantly showing me how strong my body is when I push my limits, and I love sharing that with others. I work with people who are yearning for wellness and balance, and I find joy in coaching people who struggle with finding that in their lives. I understand that they don’t want to give up some things they love – like being able to have their glass of wine (or macaroni in my case) – and I am lucky to inspire my clients to become their best selves, without the stress that can inadvertently come along with it.
When I’m not developing myself and encouraging others, you can catch me outside. I’m the girl climbing mountains in Western NC, finding new coffee places to unwind, and hitting the road for weekend getaways with my boyfriend. Our current favorite NC-getaway is Max Patch, and our favorite local coffee comes from Union Coffee Co.
My advice to beginners: Consistency is everything. Good days and bad days – pushing yourself regularly, finding balance in your life and in your diet, having patience, giving your body time to change, and creating the psychological and physiological effects of a regular schedule will be the best and most effective way to reach your goals.
If you’re dying to hear more, here are five things you may not know about me:
1. I love burpees.. And turkish get-ups.. And planks. Yes. Judge away.
2. My preferred drink is Bourbon on the rocks.
3. I didn’t like coffee for the first 23 years of my life.
4. S’mores are my favorite campfire snack 365 days of the year.
5. I’m a Gryffindor.
